I won an auction for Kirsten's Swedish Dirndl outfit about two weeks ago. I paid more than I would have liked because I wanted the outfit for my Anna.

After paying, I got a message from the seller stating "Just a note to tell you the kerchief is included. I overlooked it earlier."

So, I thanked the seller and waited for the package to arrive.

    Edit:
Kerchief did not arrive with order.
Details of the story removed so as not to arouse any suspicion over any unnamed sellers, correct or incorrect. Resolution mentioned below.

    Ebay Lesson Learned:
It is always good to ask what components are included in an outfit, even if it is listed as new, rather than assuming all components are included.

Another Edit: Forgot to change the frowning face to a happy face.

Since the replacement is only $3 I'd accept it. ALOT of new outfits on ebay don't have the extra bits. They get them at the factory or the outlet or whatever and they don't know they had those pieces, or simply didn't recieve them. I never assume it has something if it is not explicitly mentioned.

If you have the email still, forward it back to them as proof. Since that wasn't part of the initial transaction though, ebay won't cover it or help.

I'd ask for a partial refund for $3 plus shipping also in order to obtain the replacement kerchief yourself. They are not obligated to provide it, but good buisness sense says they SHOULD.

All you can do in this situation is to forward the email they sent you, saying they would include the kerchief. Since it wasn't part of the original auction, there's nothing else you can do.
Sorry to say, the last I heard, the kerchief was no longer available as a replacement part. I ordered one about 2 months ago, and about 2 weeks later my friend tried to order one, and was told they were all gone.

I have bought a few things off e-bay that are authentic and brand new but don't have all the extra pieces. The seller I work with guarantees them to be authentic and new, but doesn't always get the little pieces, and sometimes the items don't even have tags. She sell multiples of the same outfits, often hard to find ones. She also sends "little extras" along, although they are always AG. I'm wondering if it's the same person. If so, I have found her to be very reasonable. I had a problem with one dress (it had a stain on it), she apologized and sent a new one with a Felicity nightgown as an "I'm sorry" gift (it was a Felicity dress I had bought). If she's the one, she may have forgotten she said she'd include a kerchief and if you show her the e-mail, she may very well send it. If she doesn't though, I would just let it go.

I'm sorry your experience wasn't a good one. It leaves a pit in my stomach when someone doesn't get what they think they're getting on e-bay.

Edited again to remove the information about a specific seller I was referring to, for the same reason jerseycow removed some information from her first post.

If the auction did not state that it was included, I wouldn't have expected it. The fact that she emailed you AFTER you already bought it and it wasn't listed it the auction doesn't matter.

Hmm... not going to mention who the seller was. You guys were absolutely right. I just needed to forward the initial message and the seller was really nice and agreed. Would it be okay/appropriate to edit the issue out of my original post here so that I don't raise suspicions about random sellers and make anybody look bad?

Wow, the seller sent another message that they sent the kerchief out already! They were very nice about it, after being reminded that they had said they would send it. I've decided that it is appropriate to edit my initial post.
Since the seller was so nice, should I offer to send a few dollars to cover shipping? I wouldn't be able to for about a week at least, but would it be a nice idea or would it just be weird?

I don't think you need to offer to send money for shipping. It'll cost less than a dollar to ship, probably. I'm sure the seller is happy to do it to keep you happy. Just leave GLOWING feedback about wonderful customer service and I'm sure it'd be more than enough.

ETA: The seller I was referring to before once forgot to include Kirsten's hair ribbons that were stated in the auction. I asked about them, and she apologized and sent them plus another set in a padded envelope and it cost less than $1. I left her nice feedback, and have since dealt with her again. All is well.
